November 2017 - Orwell: Keeping an Eye On You

Orwell: Keeping An Eye On You is the first instalment (the second title being Orwell: Ignorance is Strength - coming soon) of a series that has the player in control of the titularly named system, Orwell, used to impose various surveillance methods upon citizens deemed to be a threat by The Nation's Party. Orwell is built to operate through a symbiotic relationship shared between two entirely separated groups. One of which is the investigator - located outside of the Nation who research a citizen's online presence before uploading any items of interest. The second is the Advisor, located inside of the Nation and only able to use information received by the investigator to then determine what course of action the authorities should take.

As shown in the image above, the interface for Orwell: Keeping An Eye On You works as if you have logged into the Orwell system on the left-hand side, followed by fictional web pages used to spy on citizens located on the right. The Orwell system then scans the web pages to flag up any data chunks that may be of discerning interest, some data chunks may portray contrasting agendas against the person you are evaluating, the choice is left to you to decide which piece of information should override the other and be sent to the Advisor to then act upon accordingly as an authoritative figure.

ORWELL: IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH (COMING SOON)

In the upcoming sequel, Orwell: Ignorance is Strength, it appears that this time the player's role will have them focusing on handling the concept of truth within media to play upon the belief of the masses. Much like the first game questions online security and how information can be so quickly discerned from what we share online, Ignorance is Strength questions the way news portrays truth and how easily it can be bent towards a certain political direction, an increasingly relevant issue within our age of digital information.
